Hamden, Conn. – Dec. 21, 2011 – Quinnipiac University physician assistant, nurse practitioner and nursing students collected, wrapped and distributed nearly 200 toys to children at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven on Dec. 16.
Toys were provided to more than 150 families with children ranging in age from infants to adolescents. The gifts were delivered by PA “Santa,” played by Chris Dillon, and a group of physician assistant and nursing elves.
For some children at the clinic, this will be their only Christmas. During their visit to the clinic, each child was read to and received a brand new book by Quinnipiac’s “reading elves.” All children and their parents were given instruction on good oral health and a demonstration on how to brush their teeth by Quinnipiac’s “oral health elves.” Each child was given a new toothbrush, toothpaste and floss. In addition to their gift, book and oral health products, children were given hats, mittens, scarves, stuffed animals and a candy cane treat.
