Sen. Cicarella and Rep. Yaccarino Celebrate Major Upgrades at North Haven Memorial Library

Sen. Cicarella secured the $500,000 Connecticut State Library Construction Grant that made the renovations possible, funded through 50% state bond funds and a 50% match from the Town of North Haven.

State Sen. Paul Cicarella (R-34) and State Rep. Dave Yaccarino (R–North Haven) joined local officials and residents on Feb. 21 for the “Renovation Celebration” at the North Haven Memorial Library, highlighting the completion of the library’s newly upgraded space.

Sen. Cicarella secured the $500,000 Connecticut State Library Construction Grant that made the renovations possible, funded through 50% state bond funds and a 50% match from the Town of North Haven. The Town previously approved its $250,000 share, bringing the total project investment to just under $500,000.

“It was an honor to work alongside the Town and Representative Yaccarino to help secure the funding necessary to support these important improvements,” said Sen. Cicarella.

Rep. Yaccarino replied, “I’m honored to be part of helping our North Haven Library. I believe libraries are crucial community hubs that offer opportunities for all ages to continue learning, enjoy favorite books, explore new uses of technology, and conduct research.”

The renovations include an enhanced Teen Department, updated gathering areas, new study and meeting rooms, a redesigned Adult Services Desk, and modernized furnishings. The library is also installing a new emergency generator, allowing the facility to serve as a cooling and warming center during emergencies.

“The North Haven Memorial Library is a true cornerstone of our community,” said Sen. Cicarella. “This would not have been possible without the leadership of the library’s Board of Directors, the dedication of its staff and volunteers, and the unwavering support of the Friends of the North Haven Library, who generously gave so much of their time and energy to this effort. Together, we are ensuring that our library remains modern, accessible, and ready to serve our community not only today, but for generations to come.”

The celebration marked a new chapter for the library as it continues to expand services and improve accessibility for the North Haven community.
