Quinnipiac University is doing its part to help the victims of a Valentine’s Day fire in Hamden.

The donations will benefit the at least 50 people forced from their homes when a fire tore through an apartment complex.

The university bookstore began collecting food, clothing, toiletries and toys on Feb. 15. The items were delivered to the Keefe Community Center on Tuesday morning.

The donations will benefit the at least 50 people forced from their homes when a fire tore through an apartment complex at 42 Warner Street on Feb. 14.

“I saw the fire on the news and felt horrible,” said Cheryl Cartier, manager of the Quinnipiac bookstore. “We thought it would be a good idea for the university to do a collection for those displaced. The Quinnipiac community really stepped up.”
