State Senator Len Fasano (R-34), Senate Minority Leader, released the following statement commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, which falls on Monday January 19.
“Dr. King was a fearless individual who inspired a movement that undoubtedly changed our nation forever. His bravery, strength and commitment to better our world propelled change, and today his accomplishments and his memory still drive progress.
“Our nation has come a long way since Dr. King first spoke to the world, but there is still more work to be done. So as we honor this hero, let us commit ourselves to not only remember, but also to take action. In the words of Dr. King, we have to ‘keep moving forward.’ Together, we have to eliminate hate, injustice and oppression. We have to advance opportunity, embrace love and equality, and always exalt what is right and just.”
