William Kohlhepp, of North Haven, has been promoted to associate vice president for faculty affairs at Quinnipiac University.
“I am very excited that Bill will be joining Academic Affairs in this important role of providing guidance and support on matters that impact faculty roles and responsibilities,” said Paul Tiyambe Zeleza, vice president of academic affairs. “He brings to the position the skills, values, experiences, knowledge, energy and commitments essential for strengthening faculty affairs in the university.”
In his new role, Kohlhepp will be responsible for many functions in Academic Affairs, including: managing all faculty business processing including overseeing faculty orientation and review processes; interpreting and providing policy guidance on faculty roles and responsibilities; acting as an impartial intermediary for faculty on professional matters; and working with the Faculty Senate and representing the vice president of academic affairs on university committees. He also will provideleadership in faculty and academic staff development by designing, implementing and assessing a comprehensive program to assist faculty and staff at all stages of their careers.
“I am very honored and humbled have been selected as the associate vice president for faculty affairs,” Kohlhepp said. “I am looking forward to being able to contribute to the future of Quinnipiac in this role.”
Kohlhepp, a professor in the physician assistant program, joined Quinnipiac 17 years ago and has steadily increased his involvement in academic administration. After serving in several roles in the physician assistant program, he served as an associate dean in the School of Health Sciences.
Kohlhepp has also been actively involved with the Faculty Senate, serving three terms as chair. During his time as chair, he also served as a voting member of the University’s Board of Trustees and a participant in the Planning Council.
He also has had a successful 30-year career as a clinically practicing physician assistant and as a health care administrator. Prior to joining Quinnipiac, he served as administrative director of St. Raphael’s Occupational Health Plus.
Kohlhepp has been active in the national professional organizations of the physician assistant profession, currently serving as treasurer of the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA). He has also been chair of the board of both the National Commission on Certification of PAs (NCCPA) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).
Kohlhepp earned his doctorate in health sciences from Nova Southeastern University and a master’s degree in health administration from Quinnipiac. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from the UMDNJ/Rutgers PA Program in New Jersey.
Bill and his wife, Peggy, have two sons, Justin Kohlhepp of Rocky Hill, Conn. and Jared Kohlhepp of Bethlehem, Pa.
