Senator Paul Cicarella proudly announces his candidacy for re-election to the Connecticut State Senate representing the 34th District in the 2026 election cycle.
“I am honored to continue serving the families, veterans, seniors, and small businesses of the 34th District,” said Cicarella. “Over the past terms, we have taken steps to make Connecticut more affordable and safer — but our work is far from finished. I am running again to build on that progress and fight for commonsense solutions that put people first.”
Senator Cicarella, first elected in 2020, serves as Senior Deputy Republican Leader and Ranking Member on key legislative committees, including General Law and Public Safety & Security. He represents a district that includes Durham, East Haven, North Haven, Wallingford, and Northford. He is known for his collaborative work across party lines, including successfully passing bipartisan laws that boost public safety, workforce opportunities for young people, and safeguarding consumers.
Campaign Priorities Include:
• Affordability: Championing tax relief and policies that reduce the cost of living for families across Connecticut.
• Public Safety: Strengthening public safety initiatives and supporting law enforcement efforts to protect communities.
• Job Creation & Workforce Development: Expanding access to well-paying careers through job training, apprenticeships, and workforce initiatives.
• Support for Veterans & Seniors: Advocating for policies that honor and assist veterans and provide critical resources for senior residents.
A Connecticut native, Cicarella grew up in East Haven and currently lives in North Haven with his wife, Christy, and their two children. Outside of the State Capitol, he is a small business owner, a retired law enforcement officer, and a long-time community volunteer and youth athletics coach.
“Serving in the State Senate has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Cicarella continued. “With your support, I look forward to continuing to fight for our shared values and deliver results that strengthen our communities.”
