Civic-minded Hamden and North Haven residents are invited to the League of Women Voters of Hamden-North Haven 2015 Breakfast with the Legislators Saturday, January 31, 9:00 am, Whitney Center, Cultural Arts Center, 1st floor, 200 Leeder Hill Drive, Hamden. $5.00 per person. Plenty of parking. Breakfast courtesy of Panera.
The annual LWV Breakfast is an opportunity to sit at a table with your legislators and to listen to fellow citizens ask questions of your legislators or propose solutions for improvements in our state (even shy persons feel comfortable expressing an opinion at the breakfast table). You may be sitting at a table with Senators Joseph Crisco, Len Fasano or Martin Looney or Representatives Michael D’Agostino, Robyn Porter, Brendan Sharkey, or David Yaccarino. Our legislators serve in leadership positions of the Connecticut General Assembly in Hartford.
What could people talk about at the Breakfast? It could be about how to stop out-of-state money from influencing Connecticut elections or someone may have a suggestion how to improve a concrete aspect of the economy of our state or someone may ask for an explanation of a law that is difficult to understand. Our legislators, who have a real say in what laws are passed in Connecticut, are interested in what their constituents think.
After the breakfast part, the legislators will form a panel and answer questions from the whole audience.
The League of Women Voters is active in all 50 states. The League‘s mission is strengthening our democracy by way of information and advocacy. LWV neither supports nor opposes political candidates.
