Quinnipiac University’s Committee on Age Inclusivity will host world-renowned author Becca Levy at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29.
Levy will discuss her book, “Breaking the Age Code,” in the auditorium on the North Haven Campus. The event is free and open to the public. Click here to register.
“We are thrilled to bring Dr. Levy to Quinnipiac to facilitate this important dialogue about ageism and aging in today’s world,” said Nicole Fidanza, a clinical assistant professor of occupational therapy and co-chair of the Committee on Age Inclusivity at Quinnipiac. “Ageism is not just targeted towards older adults — people of all ages can experience ageism and its negative effects. The way we view aging impacts all areas of our lives- and positive age beliefs are crucial to healthy aging.”
Levy, the leading authority on how beliefs about aging influence aging health, is a professor of epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health and professor of psychology at Yale. Her pathfinding studies have changed the way we think about aging and have received awards from the American Psychological Association, the Gerontological Society of America and the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics.
Levy has given invited testimony before the U.S. Senate on the adverse effects of ageism and has contributed to Supreme Court briefs to fight age discrimination. She serves as a scientific advisor to the World Health Organization’s Campaign to Combat Ageism.
