Quinnipiac University students danced their hearts out over the weekend and raised more than $200,000 for the patients and families at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center at this year’s QTHON dance marathon — bringing the total raised over the past decade to more than $1 million.
“The QTHON community has truly risen above and persevered despite the challenges that have come about due to COVID-19,” said Hannah Baker, executive director of QTHON. “We have adapted to fully virtual events, while also hosting in-person, socially distant, outdoor events to accommodate the COVID-19 guidelines. It has not been easy, but the QTHON community has not stopped our fight for the kids receiving care at Connecticut Children’s.
The dance marathon was the culmination of a year-long fundraising initiative by more than 1,110 students on more than 50 teams, working toward multiple milestones along the way.
Connecticut Children’s is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to improve access to health care for all children. It is the only health system in Connecticut dedicated to children, providing more than 30 pediatric specialties along with community-based programs.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, of which Connecticut Children’s is a part, raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provided 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment, and charitable care.
