Cicarella Again Endorsed by Independent Party of Connecticut in Bid for Re-Election to 34th District State Senate Seat

Cicarella said the endorsement reflects his continued commitment to putting people ahead of partisan politics and working across party lines to deliver results for Connecticut residents.

State Sen. Paul Cicarella (R-North Haven) has again earned the cross-endorsement of the Independent Party of Connecticut in his campaign for re-election to represent the 34th State Senate District.

Cicarella, who was first elected to the State Senate in 2020, said the endorsement reflects his continued commitment to putting people ahead of partisan politics and working across party lines to deliver results for Connecticut residents.

“I am honored to once again receive the endorsement of the Independent Party of Connecticut, and I am grateful for their continued confidence in my record of putting people over politics,” said Cicarella. “I believe good ideas find friends, and commonsense solutions should always come before partisan politics. That philosophy has guided my service in the State Senate, and it will continue to guide me as I work to make Connecticut more affordable, prosperous and united.”

Cicarella said his approach to public service is rooted in collaboration, respectful dialogue and finding practical solutions to difficult challenges.

“I take pride in working across the aisle and bringing people together when there is an opportunity to make a real difference,” Cicarella said. “Meaningful progress requires listening, building relationships and being willing to work with people who may not always agree with you.”

That commitment to bipartisan cooperation extends beyond the State Capitol. Cicarella is proud to work with Braver Angels, a national organization dedicated to improving political dialogue and restoring civility to public discourse. He also serves as Co-Chair of the Connecticut Future Caucus, where he works with legislators from both parties to identify areas of common ground and advance bipartisan solutions.

Cicarella pointed to his legislative record as evidence that collaboration can produce meaningful results.

As the leading Republican on the legislature’s General Law and Public Safety and Security Committees, Cicarella has worked on issues affecting Connecticut families, businesses, workers and communities. He has also served on the Regulation Review and Veterans’ Affairs Committees.

Among his bipartisan legislative efforts, Cicarella helped advance measures providing tax relief to Connecticut residents and has been a consistent advocate for public safety. He has worked on legislation addressing violent street takeovers while also advocating for veterans, seniors, children, and working families.

Cicarella also helped bring stakeholders together to address Connecticut’s long-standing apprenticeship ratio issue — a challenge that had remained unresolved for more than four decades. By bringing labor, contractors and other stakeholders to the table, he helped move the issue toward a common-ground solution.

“That is the approach I bring to the State Senate: practical problem-solving, bipartisan leadership and a commitment to delivering results,” said Cicarella. “Connecticut faces serious challenges, particularly when it comes to affordability, public safety, economic opportunity and the future of our communities. We need leaders who are willing to work together rather than simply fight with one another.”

Cicarella represents the 34th State Senate District, which includes Durham, East Haven, North Haven, Northford and Wallingford.

“I am asking voters for the opportunity to continue serving them in the State Senate. I will continue to put people before politics, work with anyone willing to find common ground, and fight for a Connecticut where families can afford to live, businesses can grow, communities can be safe, and the next generation has an opportunity to succeed,” he said.
