The Connecticut chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) has honored Senator Len Fasano (R-North Haven) as one of its “2016 Legislators of the Year” recognizing his work in the area of public safety.

MADD is honoring Sen. Fasano along with 13 other lawmakers for their contributions toward preventing drunk driving tragedies. He will be presented with the award at the MADD Community Champions Ceremony on Thursday November 17, 2016 at Anthony’s Ocean View in New Haven, CT.

“MADD is an incredible organization full of many individuals dedicated to ending drunk driving and supporting victims and their families. It’s an honor to receive this recognition from MADD,” said Sen. Fasano.

MADD also recognized two specific laws passed by the Connecticut legislature this year:

  • Public Act 16-182 creates a diversionary program for underage drinking and motor vehicle violations.
  • Public Act 16-126 enhances penalties for impaired drivers who have a child passenger in their vehicle.

“We are extremely grateful to have so many legislative champions in Connecticut working on our shared mission to eliminate drunk driving once and for all,” saidJanice Heggie Margolis, state executive director of MADD Connecticut. “Both of these laws will protect our youngest and most vulnerable residents from the completely preventable tragedies caused by drunk driving and underage drinking.”
