Quinnipiac University will host an information session for prospective graduate students interested in the School of Education’s sixth-year diploma in educational leadership program on Wednesday, May 25, at 4:30 p.m., on the North Haven Campus, 370 Bassett Road.

The session will begin with a presentation by the program director followed by a question-and-answer period.

The sixth-year diploma in educational leadership program is designed to prepare graduates with perspectives, knowledge and skills to become exceptional school leaders. The diploma is not a degree, but is generally recognized by school districts and educational agencies as a valuable academic credential beyond the master’s degree. The program is open to certified teachers who have a master’s degree and a minimum of four years of K-12 educational experience, and meet other admission standards.

The program is fully accredited by the state Department of Education, which participates in the National Association of State Directors of Teacher Education and Certification Interstate Agreement as well as nationally recognized by the Educational Leadership Constituent Council.

The core of the curriculum is based on three main themes: leading and managing the contemporary school, leading and managing the instructional program, and leading and managing school improvement.

The program is the only hybrid educational leadership program of its kind in Connecticut. It takes five semesters to complete and includes an intensive five-week summer session and an internship.
