Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University Welcomes 90 New Students at Annual White Coat Ceremony

The Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University welcomed 90 first-year medical students at the school’s annual White Coat Ceremony Aug. 7, on Lender Court in the TD Bank Sports Center at Quinnipiac.

The students received their white coats and stethoscopes and listened to a keynote address by Dr. Kristine M. Lisi, director of the Family Health Center at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, which is the medical school’s principal clinical partner. Following Lisi’s remarks, Dr. J. Alan Otsuki, senior associate dean for medical education at Quinnipiac, led the students as they read the Hippocratic Oath.

Students in this year’s class come from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin, Utah, and Washington.

“I am very pleased with the members of the class of 2018,” said Dr. Bruce Koeppen, founding dean of the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine. “They bring with them a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences that will enrich the school and the learning community we are trying to create.”

The School of Medicine is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, and currently holds preliminary accreditation. Full accreditation is anticipated in 2017. The school is also authorized by the state of Connecticut to award the MD degree. The school is a member of the American Association of Medical Colleges.
