State Sen. Paul Cicarella (R-North Haven), ranking member of the legislature’s Veterans’ Affairs Committee, joined local Veterans, Gov. Ned Lamont, Department of Veterans Affairs Commissioner Thomas J. Saadi and Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Sibongile Magubane on March 18 to announce 10 new conflict-specific license plate options for Veterans that commemorate specific wartime periods, including the Afghanistan War, Grenada, the Iraq War, the Korean War, Lebanon, Operation Earnest Will, Panama, the Persian Gulf War, the Vietnam War and World War II. These plates are offered in addition to the standard Connecticut license plate for Veterans and are available exclusively for Veterans who served during these specific periods of war and those who received campaign medals. “We are equally proud and grateful to every Veteran in Connecticut. This helps us to recognize these brave men and women every day for defending our nation during periods of war, and to honor their service. Thank you to all Veterans for preserving our freedom and prosperity,” said Senator Cicarella.
The license plates are available for passenger, commercial, combination, camper and camp trailer types, and cost $27.50. Veterans can request a new Veteran plate by completing the Special Plate Application Form on the DMV’s website at portal.ct.gov/DMV-War-Vet-Plate.
