Quinnipiac University to make a voluntary payment of $500,000 to the town of North Haven

Quinnipiac University President John L. Lahey will present North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda a check for $500,000, which represents the university’s voluntary payment to the town of North Haven, during a ceremony scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 3 in the First Selectman’s office at North Haven Town Hall.

“This voluntary payment represents an affirmation of the university’s ongoing support and appreciation for all that North Haven does for Quinnipiac,” said John L. Lahey, president of Quinnipiac University. “Since 2007, Quinnipiac has invested more than $350 million in developing the North Haven Campus, which is now home to five (Medicine, Law, Health Sciences, Nursing and Education) of our nine schools and our information technology department. This tremendous growth would not have been possible without the ongoing support of the leadership of the North Haven community.”

North Haven First Selectman Michael J. Freda said, “We have continued to enjoy an outstanding relationship with Quinnipiac University as its leadership has grown the North Haven Campus over the past nine years. The university’s commitment to the town of North Haven and our community has been steadfast. Its outstanding educational programs and attractive campus attracts students, young professionals and faculty to the area, helping to promote the local economy.”

Numerous businesses have been established along Route 5 because of Quinnipiac’s presence in North Haven.

Approximately 2,150 students take classes on Quinnipiac’s North Haven Campus, and. the university employs 350 faculty and staff members on the North Haven Campus. Last year, Quinnipiac made a voluntary payment of $400,000 to the town of North Haven.
