Quinnipiac University is one of the nation’s best colleges to work for, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education

Quinnipiac University is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education’s Great Colleges to Work For Survey, one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country.

The results, released July 18 in The Chronicle’s annual report on The Academic Workplace, are based on a survey of 281 colleges and universities.

In all, only 93 of the institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with Quinnipiac included among the medium universities with 3,000 to 9,999 students. Quinnipiac won honors in the categories of: work/life balance, teaching environment, compensation & benefits and tenure clarity & process.

“The Chronicle of Higher Education’s recognition of Quinnipiac University again this year is clearly a reflection of the outstanding leadership, dedication and talent of our faculty and staff who create an extraordinary educational experience for our students and a workforce environment built upon our strong sense of community. We value our employees and are pleased that they recognize the unique nature of working in an environment where each of them is a vital member of the Quinnipiac team,” said President John L. Lahey.

Liz McMillen, editor of The Chronicle, said, “Nine years in, The Chronicle’s Great Colleges to Work For program is well known as a mark of a college or university that puts thought and effort into serving the needs of its faculty and staff. The colleges and universities that make the list are highly rated by their employees for creating great working environments, an important achievement that helps them recruit top academic and administrative talent.”

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captured demographics and workplace policies, and a survey administered to faculty and staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.

To administer the survey and analyze the results, The Chronicle worked with ModernThink LLC, a strategic human capital consulting firm that has conducted numerous “Best Places to Work” programs, surveying hundreds of thousands of employees nationwide.
