Lisa O’Connor of East Haddam promoted to associate dean of the Quinnipiac University School of Nursing

Lisa O’Connor, of East Haddam, director and chair of undergraduate nursing, has been promoted to associate dean of the Quinnipiac University School of Nursing.

Lisa O’Connor, of East Haddam, director and chair of undergraduate nursing, has been promoted to associate dean of the Quinnipiac University School of Nursing.

In her new role, O’Connor will work with the dean to implement the school’s strategic plan and mission, which strive to deliver innovative programs that focus on holism, interprofessionalism and inclusivity. She also will collaborate with the nursing school’s program chairs to schedule classes, courses and facilities, assess and evaluate programs, advise students and lead the school’s quality improvement initiatives.

“I am delighted that Lisa O’Connor is the new associate dean in the School of Nursing,” said Jean Lange, dean of the School of Nursing. “Dr. O’Connor brings 12 years of faculty experience at Quinnipiac, 10 of which were as director and then chair of the undergraduate programs, to this position. She has earned the regard of colleagues across the university for her thoughtful, thorough approach to any endeavor she undertakes. It has been my pleasure to work with her over the past four years and I could not find a more dedicated person to work with me in this critical role.”

O’Connor said, “I am honored to serve in this position and to be part of such a talented team of expert faculty, staff and clinical practitioners. I have seen the school grow exponentially over my nearly 12 years here and am proud to be part of its strong academic outcomes and success.”

O’Connor holds a doctorate in educational leadership and a master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing, all from the University of Hartford. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society for Nursing, the American Nurses Association and the Connecticut League for Nursing, where she is a member of the board of directors.

Quinnipiac University’s School of Nursing, which is located on the university’s North Haven Campus, offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs to nearly 700 students each year. The school’s mission is to provide leadership in nursing and health care through innovative undergraduate and graduate education that embraces holism, interprofessionalism and inclusivity. The BSN, MSN and DNP programs at Quinnipiac are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The nurse anesthesia program has been approved by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
