Town Leaders Request $14 Million for Capital Projects

Next referendum, residents will vote on $14 million worth of capital improvement plans, including milling and paving roads, a new public works garage and major renovations to four local firehouses.

“The town infrastructure is starting to seriously decay,” said First Selectman Michael Freda at a Sept. 28 town meeting at North Haven High School’s auditorium, during which he and other municipal leaders requested that residents consider the $14 million proposal. “In these tough economic times, people may have a little bit of anxiety about spending for capital items. But, as First Selectman, it is my obligation to present to the residents what’s needed for the future, and then explain how we’re going to try to pay for it.”
