Yaccarino is Honored by Quilts of Valor

The organization was established with the hope to cover those touched by war with a Quilt of Valor.

State Representative Dave Yaccarino (R-87) was honored to receive a quilt of valor for his service in the Navy Reserve from Quilts of Valor, which was presented to him during a special legislative session held on Thursday, September 30, 2020 at the State Capitol building in Hartford.

Quilts of Valor is a foundation established in 2003 by Catherine Roberts, formerly of Delaware. The organization was established with the hope to cover those touched by war with a Quilt of Valor. According to the organization, over 255,428 Quilts of Valor have been made and presented from 2003 and up until September 8, 2020. “We hope that in holding their quilt, each recipient will know that they are thanked and kept in the thoughts and prayers of all of us,” said Patty Doak, a volunteer at Quilts of Valor Connecticut and the creator of Yaccarino’s handmade quilt.

“It is an absolute honor to be recognized by Quilts of Valor, and I will cherish this quilt and forever be grateful for the thoughts and prayers that went into creating it with me in mind,” said State Rep. Dave Yaccarino. “I am so moved by this kind gesture, and I’d also like to join the goal of Quilts of Valor in thanking all men and women for their service and sacrifice to our country and letting them know they are appreciated.”
