Quinnipiac University’s health science programs will host a Health Fair for North Haven from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.

The event, organized by third-year medical student Michael Ponce for his capstone project, will be held on the North Haven Campus, 370 Bassett Road.

The health fair is free and open to the public. It will feature a Narcan training sign-up, foot screenings, healthy cooking demonstrations, educational carnival games and a food truck.

Ponce said students from Quinnipiac’s Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine and the School of Nursing as well as the university’s physician assistant and radiology programs will volunteer at the fair.

“I wanted to bring the university closer to the surrounding community,” he said. “I also wanted to bring the different health science programs together to collaborate on some kind of project.”

Ponce said he consulted with the Quinnipiac Valley Health District before planning programs for the event.

“Based on their health needs assessment, I developed three different categories for the fair: mental health and substance abuse; physical fitness and nutrition; and access to health care and the needs of the older adult population in the area,” he said.

The health fair is open to all ages. Registration is recommended.
