Center for Women and Business at Quinnipiac University to present interactive workshop on ‘Mindfulness in the Workplace’

Jones said the program will help attendees create healthy and sustainable business practices and learn skills to increase well-being and effectiveness.

Cheryl L. Jones, chief mindfulness officer at The Mindful Path, LLC, will lead the interactive workshop, “Mindfulness in the Workplace,” from 8:30-11 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, in the Center for Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, MNH 105, at Quinnipiac University, 370 Bassett Road. Sponsored by the Center for Women and Business at Quinnipiac, this program is free and open to the public, however registration is required at www.qu.edu/sob/mindfulness.

“Mindfulness means being present in the moment,” Jones said. “It’s about noticing what’s happening within you and around you with a gentle, open mind. I’m passionate about mindfulness and believe it’s the key to thriving for individuals, organizations and communities. I believe mindfulness can transform workplace culture through mindful leadership and increased employee well-being and performance. In addition, mindfulness will empower your company to attract and retain talent, achieve business excellence, navigate change and improve employee engagement.”

Jones said the program will help attendees create healthy and sustainable business practices and learn skills to increase well-being and effectiveness.

“This program will teach attendees to clearly see how their work aligns with the objectives of their organizations and how they can be accountable for their part in achieving business excellence, navigating change and improving employee engagement,” she said. “Participants will learn how to transform the way they work every day.”

Judy Gedge, associate director of the Center for Women and Business, is one of the event organizers. She noted, “Cheryl is a skilled teacher with a passion for empowering women to reduce stress, build resilience and improve poise through mindfulness.”

Jones has been at the forefront of design, development, marketing and management of Aetna’s mindfulness-based wellness programs. Since 1997, she has completed three professional trainings in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction through the Center for Mindfulness at University of Massachusetts Medical School. She is the author of “Mindful Exercise” and a certified health and wellness coach. She has a master’s degree in exercise science from the University of Connecticut and a certificate in spirituality from the University of Saint Joseph.
