As of November 17, there are 38 days until Christmas and the United Bank Team is showing its Holiday Spirit and sharing Season’s Greetings by participating in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s annual Toys for Tots Program.

United Bank employees are collecting new, unwrapped toys at all of their 52 retail banking branches throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts in support of Toys for Tots and the millions of children this program serves. Appropriate toy donations at United Bank locations for children up to age 12 will be accepted through Tuesday, December 13.

Toys for Tots does not accept realistic looking weapons or gifts with food. If donated, such items will not be distributed. To find your nearest United Bank branch where you can donate a toy and find out the Bank’s hours of operation, go to www.bankatunited.com.

The Toys for Tots Program, founded in 1947, collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community. Their objective is to not only help less fortunate children experience the joy of Christmas but also participate in the development of these deserving children, unite the community for three months each year with an annual toy collection and distribution campaign, and make a meaningful impact on the communities it serves.

“Every year the United Bank team looks for a charitable cause that spreads the joy and excitement of the Holiday Season to people of all ages who need it most. We chose the Toys for Tots Program not only to support them in delivering a message of hope to less fortunate children but also help them enable these kids to become responsible, productive and patriotic citizens,” said William H.W. Crawford, IV, United Bank’s CEO. “The generosity of the United Team never ceases to amaze me.”

According to the Marine Toys for Tots Program, they collected and distributed 18 million toys to 7 million less fortunate children in 2015 who experienced the joy of Christmas and received a message of hope that otherwise would not have happened. Last year this annual community action effort took place in 782 communities covering all 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. Since its inception, the Marine Toys for Tots Program distributed over 512 million toys to over 237 million less fortunate children.
