North Haven School Board Revamps Busing Schedule

The Board of Education has adopted a two-tiered transportation system aimed at bringing secondary students to school closer to the schools’ start times.

A by-product could be a savings of about $60,000 next year because of a consolidation of vehicles, according to board member Stephen DiCapua.

M & J Bus, the Old Saybrook company that has served North Haven public schools for a year, presented its idea to board members recently and members Thursday night asked more specific questions of Joe Piscitelli, transportation coordinator.

Starting next year, students from North Haven High and the middle school will be on the same buses, something the bus company has seen improve the behavior of middle school pupils in other districts, Piscitelli said.
