The Future of North Haven Housing

People packed the Recreation Center gymnasium Monday night for discussion on two proposed zoning amendments which could allow numerous large, densely settled housing developments in town. At the Planning and Zoning meeting, individuals spoke impassionedly for and against the proposed modifications during hours of public comment.

Amendment dissenters protested in part that new, highly populated residential areas would mean a detrimental increase in local traffic and school children, while lowering surrounding property values.

Those in favor believed zoning changes would create inexpensive housing for youthful professionals, young families, empty nesters and singles, especially as housing markets trend toward smaller living spaces.
